Melissa Villalobos, LCSW, therapist serving Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties & Telehealth throughout California

Meet Melissa

I didn’t become a therapist because I think people need to be fixed. I became one because I’m interested in what makes us who we are and what happens when the ways we’ve learned to navigate life no longer feel right.

My work is rooted in curiosity, honesty, and conversation. I’m interested in the parts of your life that don’t always make it into the polished version you show everyone else. The relationships that are complicated, the expectations you carry, the thoughts you can’t quite turn off, and the parts of yourself you may still be trying to understand.

My career has taken me through government, nonprofit, and clinical settings. I’ve worked directly with people, led programs, and supervised teams, giving me a broader perspective on the many things that shape how we function, connect, and make sense of ourselves.

Outside of therapy, I’m a wife, mom, sister, friend, and very devoted dog mom. I’ve experienced my own seasons of change, uncertainty, responsibility, and figuring things out as I go. I don’t believe being a therapist means having life perfectly figured out. It means being willing to sit with people in the places where life feels complicated and help them make sense of what comes next.

As a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring years of clinical experience to our work, but I also bring a real person to the room. I value honest conversation, genuine connection, and creating space for you to be fully yourself.
